Welcome to VocaScript. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy will inform you as to how we look after your personal data when you visit our website and tell you about your privacy rights.
2. Data We Collect
We collect and process the following data:
- Usage Data: We use third-party analytics services to understand how visitors interact with our website. This includes pages visited, time spent, and other standard metrics. Providers may change without notice.
- Error Logs: We use third-party error tracking services to improve stability. This may include technical details about your device and browser when a crash occurs.

3. Content Storage & AI Processing
AI Processing
To provide transcription services, your media files and generated transcripts are sent to and processed by third-party AI services. We do not use your content to train AI models unless explicitly authorized.
For Guests (Unregistered Users)
Your media interactions are transient. While files are processed by our AI providers, we do not permanently store your media or transcripts on our servers. If you clear your browser data, your local copies will be lost.
For Registered Users
Your media files and transcripts are stored securely in our cloud storage to allow access across devices. We retain your account information and content while your account is active. You may delete individual files at any time. We reserve the right to delete inactive or old content to manage storage capacity.
4. Cookies and Local Storage
We use essential cookies and local storage to maintain your session, store your preferences, and ensure the application functions correctly (e.g. authentication tokens, feature flags). We also use third-party analytics cookies if enabled. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings.
5. Browser Extension
The VocaScript Browser Extension does not collect, store, or transmit any user data to external servers beyond the VocaScript application itself. All data processed by the extension stays between your browser and VocaScript.
URL & Cookie Access
When explicitly triggered by the user (via the extension icon, keyboard shortcut, or right-click menu), the extension reads the URL and optionally the authentication cookies of the active tab. Cookies are only accessed when the user enables the "Include Auth Cookies" toggle. This data is transferred directly to VocaScript solely to facilitate media downloading and is never stored beyond the immediate transfer.
Tab Audio Recording
The extension can record audio from a browser tab when the user explicitly clicks the Record button. Recorded audio is stored temporarily in local browser storage and transferred to VocaScript for transcription. The audio data is deleted from browser storage immediately after transfer. No audio is sent to any third party.
Content Scripts
On supported media sites, the extension injects a small transcription button into the video player interface for quick access. This script only adds a UI element and does not read, collect, or transmit any page content or user data. The extension also displays a badge count of detected audio and video elements on the current page.
Local File Upload
Users can upload local audio or video files through the extension popup. These files are stored temporarily in browser storage and transferred directly to VocaScript. They are deleted from browser storage immediately after transfer.
No extension data is shared with third parties. The extension communicates exclusively with the VocaScript web application.
